Yoga is designed to bring harmony into life – on all levels. In this workshop we dive into the two main aspects – as unfolded in the Vedic vision – that are the fundamental to that:
(1) Understanding how the universe functions (Dharma)
(2) Living in alignment with the way the universe functions (Devotion)
The word Dharma is often used in the yogic world, but what exactly does it refer to? Depending upon the context ‘Dharma’ translates as ‘universal law’ or ‘universal value’. In the Vedic tradition it is clearly understood – if your actions and attitudes are in alignment with Dharma – you will experience more harmony. If you’re acting against universal principles and values, you experience suffering.
Some of the universal principles we will have a deeper look into both on the mat and off the mat: Balance, Impermanence, Interconnectivity, Law of Manifestation, Expansion and Contraction.
In our Yoga Āsana practice we enter different poses with certain emphasises and different challenges. Similarly, throughout our life we are given many different roles – son, daughter, mother, father, sibling, co-worker, student, friend, partner... the list goes on. Yet, we discover that the most important role we get to play is the role of the devotee. The devotee is in and through all the roles we are given – and does not have a problem with what is given. The devotee holds a value for the laws and principles of the universe – and acts in alignment with that. On and off the mat.
Join this workshop for a deep dive into the fundamental aspect upon living life in harmony and discovering what forms a Yogi* at heart.
